FROM BELARUS TO CHAMPIONS

Gary and Val grew up in Belarus, where wrestling wasn't just a sport — it was a way of life. From a young age, both brothers dedicated themselves to mastering the art of Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling, training under elite Soviet-era coaches and competing at the highest levels of the sport.

Their dedication paid off. Both brothers achieved the extraordinary distinction of ranking in the USSR Top 10 in wrestling — a remarkable achievement in an era when Soviet wrestlers dominated the world stage. They competed across the Soviet Union, representing their region against the very best athletes their country had to offer.

In 1991, the brothers immigrated to the United States, bringing with them decades of world-class athletic training and an unrelenting competitive spirit. Adapting to a new country didn't slow them down — it fueled them. They immersed themselves in the American martial arts landscape, earning double-striped black belts in Taekwondo and adding Jiu-Jitsu and Boxing to their already formidable skill sets.

Gary and Val went on to coach at multiple gyms across the region, developing a reputation for producing champions. Their students have gone on to win titles at the local, regional, and national levels across wrestling, BJJ, Muay Thai, and MMA. Wherever the brothers have coached, champions have followed.

Brothers MMA is the culmination of everything they have built — a gym designed to honor the hard work, sacrifice, and championship mentality that defined their own careers.
